Australia’s car scene has never been more alive. There is at the very least one local car gathering every week and numerous events every other. The number of various car clubs and workshops in Melbourne and the rest of Australia have grown substantially as of late due to the help of Facebook. The car scene world wide for a fact has been getting bigger with the help of social media, helping connect people all over the world. Whether it be Japanese Imports, American Muscle or even Australian Muscles we are lucky enough to have it all here.
Every year there are more motorists on the road and with that comes a new generation of car enthusiast. As of late there have been a lot of bad media about car enthusiasts and the car scene, being perceived as “Hoon’s” and criminals. Instead of trying to support the young kid’s here in Melbourne and teaching them the right way to go about it by educating and giving them legal places to go in order to enjoy their pride and joy, they choose to instead to use the band aid approach of fining and crushing cars.
As the saying goes ” Two wrongs do not make a right” and the same applies in this case. It just shows how out of touch our politicians are with the people they are paid to represent. Yes, there are a small minority that seem to ruin it for the rest but it is wrong to label every car enthusiast as a “Hoon”.
I must admit though I have been a bit busy and slack lately to attend some of the car meets & events as of late but I do hear from friends that it is forever growing.
This addiction we call cars has taught me a lot in life, but has also helped me meet some very genuine people that I am proud to call friends. As a matter of fact I had met two of my best friends through the car scene about 15 years ago and share some of our greatest life stories from being a part of a car club. Having been in the car scene for a very long time I have seen a lot of the high’s and low’s that come as part of being a car enthusiast. Sure there are times when you sit there and think about quitting, but your car becomes so much a part of you that it is so hard to give it all up and throw in the towel.
Car’s are a way of life, once you’re hooked you live, eat and breath it.
